The Wende Museum in Los Angeles owns a preserved section of the Berlin Wall. In 2011, RETNA was invited to paint a section of it alongside other international artists, all working on fragments of the same historical object. Painting on a piece of the Berlin Wall carries a weight unlike any other wall: the concrete embodies decades of history — division, freedom, people crossing it. The artist's contribution added a calligraphic voice to that legacy.
