In September 2012, Michael Kohn Gallery on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles presented an exhibition of new paintings, works on paper, and site-specific installations by RETNA. Drawing on the visual writings of ancient cultures — from Arabic and Persian to Hebrew and Native American traditions — the artist's improvised alphabet fused hieroglyphic forms with the elegance of classical calligraphy and the language of Modernist abstraction. The exhibition was on view through October 27.
